Fresh Sounds

new official video of “Amazing & Wonderful” of of Peaking Lights wonderful 936.

I love all of this. No Dice Paradise posted this on their tumblr yesterday, same with the video. This is the second video to make it onto their Vimeo page, and I’m liking this one almost as much as the last one. From those beautiful blue mountains and ugly sweaters to the chilling harmonies and guitar picking, this one’s a winner. Oh, and the soundcloud track is lovely as well.

The Weeknd has had 6 tracks leak onto the interwebs the past few days. This is my favorite of those tracks, a guitar-based ballad of sorts. A pretty understated tune, titled “Rolling Stone”. I suppose this is the official release though, seeing as I’m taking this from The Weeknd’s Soundcloud. It’s been on the internet for about two days now, but was posted on their soundcloud only a few hours ago.

The Black Lips new album Arabia Mountain is set to release in two weeks on June 7th, buuuttttt! they have teamed up with the wonderful people over at Grooveshark(I’m a huge advocate of Grooveshark, btw. It’s made my life so much better in so many ways. I can’t even begin to explain my crush on/obsession with Grooveshark)…to stream the whole album on the site! So, if you head over to Grooveshark, you may see an exploded version of the image above set behind your search bar, and the option to preview the whole album. But, if not, I have the whole thing embedded right here. Enjoy it!

Shabazz Palaces - Swerve… The Reeping of All That Is Worthwhile (Noir Not Withstanding) by imdownonmymind
Shabazz Palaces is a press-evasive Seattle avant-rap collective headed by Palaceer Lazaro/Ishmael Butler, former member of Digital Planets and Cherrywine. Shabazz Palaces is the first rap act that Sub Pop Records has signed onto their megalist of artists, which should speak for itself as to the unique qualities of Shabazz Palaces music, swaying Sub Pop from their strictly no-rap stance. Shabazz Palaces is set to release Black Up this June 28th, and this, “Swerve…All The Reeping Of All That Is Worthwhile(Noir Not Withstanding)” is the closing track, released today via Sub Pop Records.

Man, this is going to be the third or fourth post dealing with Absent Fever this week, but they’re just popping up all over the place with such good material. It’s no coincidence. This is part of their “Woman Was the Word” project, meant to bring attention to female musicians and artists. This project also involved artists Elizabeth Rose and Rachel Levy. You can pick up songs by both of those artists, as well as this track, at this mediafire link.

I hope you also enjoy the wonderful work of the fine people at Absent Fever Records.

I love this video so much. There are 4 or 5 videos that I always find myself going back to, and this is one of those. I’ve watched it atleast 20 or 30 times over the last few months. I hope you guys enjoy it. I love this cover, and the videography is incredible. I want to take a roadtrip.

Germany Germany released this latest EP titled Adventures on their bandcamp, a 17 track piece that takes inspiration from The Postal Service. I love The Postal Service, so I’m optimistic about this one.
Germany Germany says this of the album - “Adventures nearly sums up all that is Germany Germany. The past synth-pop, electro, ambient, etc. sounds have all been combined into 2 sides, 17 songs, 60 minutes.”
Pick up this Germany Germany sound-sampler of an album in digital or casette forms through their bandcamp.
